Abstract
Even though the use of innovative passive sensors is very desirable for health monitoring of infrastructure, the use of active sensors is also desirable for use on older infrastructure. The theoretical background and recent advancements in real-time implementation of active sensors and methods for real time implementation of them are discussed here. A case study is included to demonstrate the usefulness of the methods.
