Survey of Industry Case Studies

  • Chapter
Book cover Virtual Organizations

Abstract

This chapter details the results of a case study carried out by the VOSTER project Consortium, aimed at identifying current and advanced socio-organisational practices for using, implementing and exploiting existing or emerging ICTs in the Virtual Organisation (VO) context. The industrial case survey has resulted in the identification of some emerging VO practices, which have shown, to some extent, successful application in truly industrial environments. Even though they suffer the limitation of being the very first implementation of innovative concepts, resulting in some weak points to be addressed for improvement by future research, the achieved maturity level is deemed adequate to provide some advantage from their utilisation in the establishment of future Virtual Organisations.
