Abstract
Three main phases of meteogene travertine growth have strongly conditioned the late Quaternary landscape evolution along the upper valley of Pescara river. A comparison between the ages of travertine deposits, carried out with 14C and U/Th methods, and the oxygen-isotope record deep-sea core, has been performed. The travertine formation in the study area is controlled mainly by the palaeoclimatic fluctuations, and the periods of growth are connected with the improvement climatic phases
