Conclusion
The high prevalence of HIV in African adults fuels the pediatric epidemic. While programs aimed at preventing mother-tochild HIV transmission are going to scale, clinicians urgently need improved clinical and diagnostic tools to provide the much needed care for those children who are already HIV-infected.
