Full-Endoscopic Lateral Recess Decompression (Ventral Facetectomy)

  • Kazuta Yamashita

There are three types of LSS, intervertebral foraminal stenosis, lateral recess stenosis, and central canal stenosis. Using the minimally invasive new endoscopic technique, transforaminal full-endoscopic lateral recess decompression (TE-LRD), both foraminal and lateral recess stenosis can be decompressed. We named full-endoscopic venrtral facetectomy (Sairyo et al., J Orthop Sci 23(2):229–36, 2018). TE-LRD should have benefits in elderly patients with LSS and poor general condition due to multiple comorbidities because it can be performed under local anesthesia. In this chapter, we describe this new technique in detail.
