Abstract

This chapter discusses the mechanical degradation of reinforced concrete beams corroded under sustained loads. Two corrosion acceleration techniques were used to evaluate the mechanical degradation of concrete beams due to corrosion of varying degrees and under different loading levels. The quantitative correlations between the level of corrosion in the reinforcement and residual loading capacity of corroded beams are discussed.
