Abstract

Trustworthiness is an important concept in Chinese philosophy and ethics. From the way that the word is constructed, we can see that it is composed of ren (人) and speech (言). Its basic meaning refers to the authenticity of speech, the coherence between one’s speech and actions and that one’s speech and intentions are the same.
