Applying Stratigraphic Classification Estimation Using Neural Networks to Coastal Regions of the Fukuoka Plain, Japan
In recent years, geotechnical information databases in Japan have been enhanced. Technology to create the geotechnical ground model has been developed. Nevertheless, judgment of the stratum is made subjectively by people. A regional geotechnical model can become further advanced if this stratigraphic classification were done rationally and promptly. The applicability of stratigraphic classification identification was confirmed in earlier studies applying neural networks (NN) in two layers: Nakasu and Arae layers. To make it more practical, this study investigated the applicability of NN in places where large changes in strata of three or more layers have occurred.
