Analysis of 270° Sectoral Microstrip Antenna with Shorting Post and Open-Circuit Stubs for Wideband Response
Wideband design of a shorted 270° sector loaded with open-circuit stubs is reported. The modal description of the same has been presented. However, with reference to the boundary conditions of the shorted patch where mix boundary conditions and identical boundary conditions are present along the orthogonal axis in shorted patch have not been clearly identified. This paper presents a detailed analysis of wideband response in shorted 270° sectoral microstrip antenna. Modal identification with respect to mix and identical boundary conditions is carried out. The study shows that wideband response of 520 MHz bandwidth is a result of coupling between TM1/2,2 and TM1/2,4 modes. Unidirectional currents created on patch because of stubs yield nearly linearly polarized radiation patterns. The present study highlights upon working of the antenna, hence it can serve as guideline to design the same at other frequencies.
