Augmented Reality Technology for Assembly and Maintenance of Complex Equipments and Facilities

Augmented reality technology is becoming increasingly practical. This chapter first introduces the origin of this technology. Then, it pointed out that because AR can realize the integration of the atomic world and the bit world, this technology is bound to greatly improve the efficiency of human collaboration and has far-reaching significance. Next, the main technologies and applications of AR in the assembly and maintenance of complex equipments and facilities are discussed. The fourth part discusses the important role of this technology in the research informatization in China. The fifth part of this chapter mainly discusses the relationship between AR technology and the current popular technologies. It demonstrates the complementary relationships among them. At the end of this chapter, the problems and prospects of AR technology are described.
