Abstract

While it is beneficial to use vision sensors in many vision applications such as object detection, scene recognition, human pose estimation, and activity recognition, machine learning plays an important role in bridging the gap between feature representations and decision-making. In this chapter, an overview of this book is presented. We begin with an introduction to the research issues on learning in mobile robot localization. The content for each chapter is next described. Finally, the contributions are summarized.
