Abstract

The choroid is a vascularized and pigmented tissue layer lying between the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE)-Bruch membrane complex and the sclera [1]. It extends from the ora serrata anteriorly to the optic nerve posteriorly. The choroid appears in light to dark brown color and sponge-like shape, with thickness of 0.22 mm posteriorly and 0.10–0.15 mm anteriorly. It consists of four layers microscopically, suprachoroidal space, stroma layer, choriocapillaris, and Bruch’s membrane.
