Abstract

Meningitis refers to the diffuse inflammatory changes in the pia mater, which are caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, spirochaeta, protozoa, and substrates. In the early stage of the disease, there are normality or only unspecific changes in CT or MRI scanning. The ventricular enlargement, narrowing of the brain groove, brain swelling, brain shift, and other abnormal manifestations show up when there are neurological complications. Enhanced MRI scan is more sensitive to the diagnosis of meningitis than enhanced CT scan.
