The līlā of the Līlāvatī
Sanskrit literature is rich in a variety of texts across a wide range of disciplines including mathematics, astronomy, medicine, history, philosophy, drama, mythology and so on. A perusal of literature around the world will show that, while it is common to compose works related to history, literature, mythology etc. in metrical form, scientific literature—due to its use of technical vocabulary, as well as demands of brevity, clarity and precision—is usually written in prose.
