The Romantic Period—running roughly from the late 1700s to the late 1800s (or approximately, the nineteenth century in its entirety)—is probably characterised best by the consequences of industrialisation. This era has also been referred to as The Great Divergence and while there is a debate about exactly when it began, there is little disagreement on the consequences.
