Case Studies of Eight Successful Deals that Realized Sustainable Profit Growth After Acquisitions
In this chapter, the author conducts in-depth case studies of eight successful overseas acquisitions made by Japanese companies. For each case, he discusses the original objective of the outbound M&A and the decisions of the managers involved. He goes on to examine the management after the acquisition and the specific challenges presented in each case. He concludes each case study with a discussion of the consequences of the outbound acquisition for both firms involved. Matsumoto notes that successful cases of outbound acquisitions were able to ensure long-term, sustainable profit growth.
