Oleuropein is a phenolic compound extracted from olive (Canarium album (Lour.) Raeusch., Gan Lan) leaves mainly. Clinical and experiment statistics demonstrated oleuropein is beneficial to human health, discovering its activities of antioxidation, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, atherosclerosis prevention, blood glucose hypoglycemia reduction, and nerve protection. In recent years, the modern pharmacological research provides a theoretical foundation for its clinical application. At the same time, there are some new pharmacological effects discovered by scientists. It is believed that it is beneficial and it has antitumor effect and effects on cardiovascular diseases and metabolic diseases.
