Abstract

The Sulige is situated in the northwest of the Ordos Basin, which is the most difficult gas field to develop of low permeability, low pressure, and low abundance in China. Economical and effective exploitation was restricted heavily by longer drilling cycle and higher drilling cost, when exploitation pattern has developed from vertical well and directional well to horizontal well. Domestic and foreign exploitation practice indicated cluster horizontal wells are the highway to reduce drilling cost. Through explore ways, brainstorm project and practice several years in view of how to raise rate of drilling and how to reduce drilling cost, Changqing Oilfield Company integrated key drilling technology of horizontal wells, which consist of well structure and wellbore profile optimization technique, PDC bit design technique, wellbore trajectory control technique and drilling fluid technique. From 2010 up to now, this technology has been applied in 800 horizontal wells in Sulige gas field, average drilling cycle cut short from 90.2 days to 58.5 days, drilling cost reduce more than one-third, and it has achieved obvious benefits; it has become one of the main multitude technologies of the Sulige gas filed which is exploited economically and effectively.
