Application of Seismic Techniques to Lithological Exploration
Along with the exploration gradually deepening in the eastern margin of Pre-Caspian Basin, the clearer and larger structure reservoirs are ascertained; that is, the oil and gas remaining amount related to structural traps is less and less. Lithology exploration has become the main field of oil and gas exploration in this area, and seismic techniques play an important role in lithology exploration. Together drilling, logging, testing, analysis and testing data, guided by petroleum geology theory, locations of reservoir are determined. Fully utilizing pre-stack and post-stack seismic data, sensitive attributes determined by petro-physical analysis are used to predict reservoirs and detect hydrocarbon. Fracture detection technique with high-precision 3D seismic data, wave impedance conversion technique applying to quantitative predict pore-type reservoir and seismic attribute analysis technique by sensitive parameters show outstanding advantages in distinguishing and depicting storing space of carbonate rock. Multi-wavelet decomposition and reconstruction technique in hydrocarbon detection of reservoir has good application effect. The possible range of lithological oil and gas reservoirs predicted by methods mentioned above provide a reliable basis for the exploration deployment and location design. The drilling results show that these techniques are so effective in carbonate reservoir prediction that the size of reserves has been discovered, and the backup drilling targets are made sure. It lays the foundation for long-term exploration in Pre-Caspian and stable development of oil and gas pipelines in China and Kazakhstan and provides technical supports for the evaluation and bidding of overseas new projects.
