In establishment of conservation action plans of endangered species including translocation, reintroduction and captive breeding, it is important to further understand the status of genetic diversity on not only neutral genes such as mitochondrial DNA and microsatellites but also functional genes such as MHC genes. In this part, in respect of conservation genetics, the status of genetic variations in the populations of the Blakiston’s fish owl and the red-crowned crane is discussed.
