The Arctic Before

Chapter

Abstract

One day of December 2000, I ran across an article in Space News on Robert Zubrin and The Mars Society telling about the installation of the first Martian module on Devon Island, an uninhabited island of the Canadian Great North, way beyond the Arctic Circle. This article announced also the beginning of a series of international campaigns of Martian mission simulations that would take place in a habitat similar to a habitable base that would be landed on the planet Mars in a few years.
