Abstract

This paper discusses the efficacy of independent practice technology on Chinese characters learning for the children with parents absent after school. The self-generated practicing with the design of Chinese Characters Practicing Platform incorporates two modules in Learning Materials Editor and Multiple Chinese Input Methods Practicing Engine. The Chinese Characters Practicing Platform provides children with the opportunities of independent review and preview. This implementation of independent practice technology after school shows children have developed new skills and increased interest in Chinese characters learning, and increased engagement in school.
