Abstract
In 2010 I (Drick) attended the U.S. Social Forum in Detroit, a gathering of 15 thousand community organizers, popular educators, labor organizers, and social justice advocates from across the United States. In a surprising but profound way, I was struck by the deeply spiritual nature of the proceedings. People spoke of their commitment to social justice and concern for the victims of abusive corporate and government policies.
