Developing a Culture of (Inter)National Mobility in Initial Teacher Training: Expectations, Limitations and Ways Forward

  • Gerit Jaritz

Abstract

It is true that teachers and schools are still very much embedded in local communities and tend to be local activists rather than global players. However, local and national issues can often be better understood if embedded in a wider global context. Thus, developing cultural sensitivity and a sense of our global interdependence is becoming a real challenge to all educators, and cross-cultural experiences and global issues are slowly becoming components of both Swiss and European curricula.
