Abstract

Fractures are the main focus of the field of orthopedics. An international classification system of fractures is important for their correct diagnosis and treatment. The classification of fractures facilitates uniform criteria for diagnosis, treatment, and the evaluation of treatment results. Therefore, the international fracture classifications are basic knowledge for clinical orthopedic physicians. Many different classification methods exist and may vary depending on the location of the fracture. Fracture classification lines and corresponding clinical radiographs are two-dimensional, making them difficult to translate to practice. Three-dimensional reconstructions of the normal spine, limbs, and joints can be simulated for clinical fracture classifications. Images and animations can provide multiangle, dynamic views of different types of fractures for classifications that allow for quicker, more accurate decision-making, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of intra-articular, pelvic, and acetabulum complex fractures.
