Electromagnetic Interference Receptors and Susceptibility Criteria

Abstract

The previous chapter surveyed sources of electromagnetic interference (EMI). Since it takes both an emission source and a susceptible receptor (i.e., a victim) to create an EMI situation, the topic of receptors and susceptibility forms the subject of this chapter. The term “receptor” refers to the generic class of devices, equipment, and/or systems that, when exposed to conducted and/or radiated electromagnetic energy from emitting sources, will either degrade or malfunction in performance. Receptors may be classified as summarized in Fig. 3–1.
