Abstract

We have examined the suitability of a k-є model (TEMPEST) for simulating dispersion around a building under stably stratified approach flow and to investigate the effects of stable stratification on the flow and its associated dispersion field in the vicinity of the building. The results of numerical simulations are compared with available measurements from towing-tank experiments conducted at the Fluid Modeling Facility of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on flow and dispersion around a cube. The agreement between them is fair to good.
