Principal Component Analysis of the CIV λ1549 Emission-Line in Active Galactic Nuclei
Conference paper
Abstract
We apply a principal component analysis (PCA) to the CIV λ1549 emission-line of 18 active galactic nuclei (AGN) observed more than 15 times with the IUE satellite from 1978 to 1991. The PCA method is described and some qualitative results are discussed. A more quantitative study is in preparation (Türler & Courvoisier 1997).
