Abstract
Solar cell arrays may be classified, according to their mechanical construction (as shown in Fig. 7–1), into two broad categories: arrays for terrestrial applications and arrays for space applications. Significant differences in array design and construction between terrestrial and space arrays result primarily from the differences in the environments that these two classes of arrays must endure. In addition, space arrays usually must meet severe weight requirements.
