Some Reflections on Causality

  • Evert W. Beth

Abstract

I should like to introduce these general reflections on causality with the following provisional formulation of the causality principle:
  1. (i)

    perceived or assumed events can be arranged in chains that are continuously linked in space and time;

  2. (ii)

    these chains can be analysed into fragments each having specific structures.
