Electromagnetic Properties of the Lunar Surface
Chapter
Abstract
The results of the studies of the radiation of our satellite in the microwave domain of its spectrum, as summarized in the preceding chapter, open the way for investigating not only the thermal properties of the outermost crust of the Moon down to some depth below the visible surface, but also certain of its electromagnetic characteristics, related to the former by Maxwell’s equations governing the propagation of electromagnetic waves in dielectric media.
