Abstract

In contemporary society obesity is, no doubt, a serious issue. It is studied by many specialists who are trying to resolve various aspects—from basic research into lipogenesis and lipid mobilisation to the elaboration of new reducing diets. A relatively less popular sphere is the epidemiology of obesity; obesity is no longer only the problem of individuals but of whole populations and nations.
