Presenting Decision-Makers with Their Choices: Environment Health Indicators for NEHAPs
Abstract
The development and implementation of National Environmental Health Action Plans (NEHAPs) is a complex process. It requires the ability to identify, evaluate and compare a wide range of environmental health issues, affecting a large diversity of people, to differing degrees and in different ways. If the NEHAP process is to be democratic, and to involve the key stakeholders and actors, it needs to establish a dialogue between the many interested parties, including policy-makers, planners scientists, industry and members of the public. It requires, also, the ability to define and assess the range of actions which might be taken to tackle these issues and reduce the risks to public health.
