Abstract
Rivers and seas form the largest part of the international borders of Croatia, primarily with Hungary, Yugoslavia and Bosnia-Herzegovina (Figure 1). Croatia receives water from Slovenia, Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina (B&H), while Yugoslavia receives all river flows from the parts of Croatia that are in the Black Sea catchment area. The remaining waters in Croatia flow into the Adriatic Sea. The Croatian water supply is very much connected to that of its neighbouring countries with whom cooperation is needed to achieve rational and sustainable water resources management.
