Structure of a Maritime Pine Stand Originated From Fire
Chapter
Abstract
In a 22 years old maritime pine (Pinus pinaster Ait.) stand, originated from fire, where no silvicultural operations had been applied, stand structure and growth were studied by stem analysis of 102 trees sampled according to their social position.
Results pointed out: high mortality, mechanical and biological instability, inflammable matter store up, early social differentiation; after the 14th year, middlestorey and understorey growth decreases rapidly.
