On Syllogisms Mixed from Assertoric and Possible Premises
Abstract
389. The mode of the conclusion of the mixture of the assertorie and the possible in the first figure will be according to what I shall say: We say first that if the possibility in the minor is essential then it will not yield because the middle term is not the same <in both premisesx But if the minor is incidentally possible and the major assertoric, then the possible <premise> will be posited as actually existing, and the syllogism will be assertoric. The mode of its conclusion has already been shown from what was stated above, except that what yielded essentially necessary will yield here essentially necessary, and what yielded incidentally necessary or assertorie will yield possible for the reason which we mentioned above.
