Abstract

The Western Flower Thrips (WFT) Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) is a major pest world-wide (Brødsgaard, 1989). Besides causing direct feeding damage, this insect transmits tomato spotted wilt virus. As chemical and biological control of WFT is difficult, the development of resistant crops is vital. At CPRO-DLO, research is aimed at obtaining resistance in cucumber and chrysanthemum.
