Abstract

Actuating systems provide a robot with muscle power. They are energy conversion devices, converting electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic power to mechanical power. The basic drive elements may be classified into motors and actuators, the former capable of continuous rotation and the latter limited in motion, whether linear or rotary.
