Abstract

Arachidonic acid is metabolized by rabbit peritoneal PMNs via both prostaglandin cyclo-oxygenase and fatty acid lipoxygenase pathways to yield a multiplicity of biologically active products. These activities have been well characterized for the prostaglandins and thromboxanes and recent attention has been directed to the activities of the many hydroxy substituted arachidonic acid metabolites including leukocyte chemotactic and chemokinetic stimulation and possible mediation of leukoctye aggregation1,2.
