Direct Talks Between the Kuomintang and the Communists
Chapter
Abstract
When the remnants of Communist troops reached Kansu and Shensi in 1935, the Chinese Reds were in a desperate situation. In order to save themselves, they began to shout such slogans as “Form a United National Front” and “Let’s unite to resist Japanese aggression” in the hope of obtaining a respite through political maneuvers.
