Influence of Pupillary Size on \(\overline {{\text{P100}}}\) Latency Time of Pattern-Reversal VEP

Abstract
The relation existing between exit pupil of the eye and latency time of pattern-reversal VEP’s major positive component was evaluated. VEP recordings were performed on 5 healthy subjects. The exit pupil of the eye was varied either pharmacologically or by placing stops in front of the eye. We ascertained that with small exit pupils \(\overline {{\text{P100}}}\) latency time increases.
Therefore, in order to minimize diagnostic errors, we suggest that pupil size should always be considered when analysing latency time.
