Regulation of Immunoglobulin Synthesis in Vitro in Crohn’s Disease: “Covert” Suppressor T-Cells
Chapter
Abstract
Crohn’s disease [CD] is generally assumed to have an immunologic pathogenesis, but the mechanisms involved in the disease remain obscure. One hypothesis is that CD may be due to a defect in immune regulation which leads to an altered reactivity to enteric antigens. For this reason we asked whether CD patients have an abnormality of suppressor T cells regulating immunoglobulin synthesis.
