Abstract

Renal cell carcinoma is not a common tumor and accounts for approximately 3% of adult malignancies. The tumor occurs more commonly among urban dwellers and is most commonly found in males (5.6 per 100 000 males and 4.1 per 100 000 females). Patients with polycystic kidney disease appear to have a predisposition to the development of renal carcinoma, and a definite increased incidence is noted in patients with von Hippel-Lindau’s disease [1].
