Abstract

Problems related to the quantitative evaluation of nature and quantity of suspended matter in the oceans and their coastal regions from digital imagery taken by the Coastal Zone Color Scanner (CZCS) on Nimbus-7 are treated. Special consideration is given to the correction of the sensitivity loss of the instrument which became evident recently. The methods of evaluating suited atmospheric parameters for the correction of aeroso scattering light and procedures for locating picture elements geographically are presented. Some examples of CZCS data evaluation of scenes from various parts of worlds oceans are presented briefly.
