Abstract

The effects on health of atmospheric pollution and noise are discussed in the light of present knowledge. The problems of measuring environmental health impacts are outlined. A case study is included which concerns the attempt to predict the environmental impact of constructing a large steel works in Teesside in the early 1970’s.
