The economics of wetland conservation
Chapter
Abstract
This paper is concerned with one class of wetland habitat in one country, the United Kingdom. The habitat however has close parallels in much of Europe, particularly Western Europe, and appears to be under threat everywhere for broadly similar reasons. It is argued that effective conservation requires action in part, at least, at the international level, specifically within the EEC; community action is required since it is community policies that present the threat.
