Abstract

From 1966 to 1980, there were 713 patients admitted to our hospital for the treatment of scar contracture over various parts of the body, of whom 468 were males and 245 females, a ratio of about 2:1. More than half (461 patients, 64.7%) of the patients were within the age range 21–50 years. The hand, the face and the neck are the three commonest sites of burn, in that order of frequency1,2. The commonest cause of burn is flame (65%).
