Comparison of live and dead animals
Chapter
Abstract
In the previous chapter the concern was with the comparison of samples of live animals taken after selection has operated for various amounts of time on a population. The idea was that selective survival will cause population changes that can be detected from the samples. Another similar type of approach to studying selection involves sampling dead animals and seeing how their morph distribution compares with that of live animals. In this case the idea is that if a morph is proportionately more frequent among the dead animals than among the live ones, then this morph is being selected against.
