Abstract

This paper outlines the major findings of a two year study commissioned by the Groupe de Prospective of the French Ministry of the Environment to compare innovative strategies in the environmental industries of the following countries : Japan, the United States, the Federal Republic of Germany, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and France(1).The study deals with “add on” techniques applied to industrial and toxic wastes treatment, water and wastewater treatment, air pollution control (stationary sources) as well as instrumentation (2).It is focused on the R & D programs of firms and does not cover research activities of public institutes or universities.
