Abstract

The use of industrial robots for handling tools or workpieces is now an established area of industrial practice. Robot handling is used for tasks such as loading and unloading machine tools and die-casting machines, and for moving components from one transportation system to another. The important topic of tool handling applications will be covered later and so for the present, attention will be concentrated upon the handling of workpieces.
